Dr Lorraine McCormack, Brunel University and Let's Think Forum

Lorraine joined Brunel University in May 2014 as Lecturer in Science Education. Prior to this she held the post of Lecturer in Science Education and Subject Leader for Science at Plymouth University since 2010. She had also worked as a post-doctoral researcher on the European FP7 funded project entitled ESTABLISH (European Science and Technology in Action: Building Links with Industry, Schools and Home). Lorraine was awarded a PhD in 2009 on her work on the study of the cognitive development levels of pre- and post- second level transfer students. She researched the effect of the CASE (Cognitive Acceleration through Science Education) on students’ cognitive development and academic attainment. Lorraine became a Council Member of the Let’s Think Forum in 2012 and is part of the team working on the EEF funded project entitled “Let’s Think Secondary Science”. She is also an Organising Committee Member of the European Science on Stage Festival 2015.

Lorraine will provide key insights into the work of the Let's Think Forum and how Cognitive Acceleration is developing in an international context.  She will present a workshop based on her PhD project and will be one of our keynote speakers.
